Native Mainer Billy Winn moved down to Portland from the western mountains in 2003. Deciding to try his hand at song writing after 20 years fronting cover bands, he refers to his genre as alternative country rock pop. He blends his diverse musical tastes by combining southern rock and traditional country with a blues flavor and a touch of Appalachia thrown in. Strong infuences began with his first store-bought cassette tape, "Witchita Lineman" by Glen Campbell, to music by Led Zeppelin and on to artists of today like Gary Allan and Jack White.
Billy's thirst for everything music has no boundries. He writes what he knows. After a twenty plus year struggle with hard drugs and alcohol, Billy pulls no punches about the cold, dark reality of addiction and his graditude for having survived it.
